In a world filled with Cobra‘s, DeathAdders, Vipers, even Basilisks. Along comes something a little less aggressively named, the Razer Pro Click V2. This latest release from Razer is part of the work to play type products that are being released. So, just what does a £99 mouse get you?
Each Click Is A Pro Click
The Razer Pro Click V2 has won a few awards, but just what does it all mean? Is it going to replace your latest gaming mouse, or will it just be something you sling in your work bag for the trip to the office? Let’s find out.
Design Features
Being designed with ergonomics in mind, the mouse has been perfectly sculpted. With a nice, wide thumb rest as well to enable better wrist posture. Giving an all day comfort that I’ve never experienced with another mouse. I got this one out of the box straight away and put it to use during my working day. 8 hours a day for 5 days a week of spreadsheets, emails, Teams messages and more. Not once did I have to do the wrist stretch that comes from playing video games all day! This was a literal revelation, I could be at work all day, and not suffer from wrist fatigue.
Gone are all the buttons, with only a few remaining. Two side buttons, then the traditional left and right mouse buttons straddling the mouse wheel. Which using the Hyperscroll technology, you can either have the tactile cycling mode, or at the press of a button, you can have the free-spin mode. If you need to use this mouse on both work and gaming, you can switch between DPI settings with just one click, bringing into play the Pro 30K Optical Sensor. Giving you that pixel-perfect aim even on glass surfaces.
With multi-device connectivity, it makes it a lot easier to connect wherever you are. Along with the included dongle, giving you 2.4GHz, you can connect to up to 3 Bluetooth connections as well as the USB-C wired connection. Firing up Synapse opens up some other features for the Razer Pro Click V2. Using AI (Which I don’t advocate) you can summarise text, even draft emails and other things. Simply press and hold the scroll wheel to bring up the menu and see what you can get some help with. Just remember that AI is not always 100% accurate and should be used with caution!
Longevity
So, according to the Razer website, the battery life on this mouse is up to 3.5 months! Although it states that it is under standard test conditions. I would love to know what these test conditions are, as I generally had to charge the mouse every few days to a week. So if anyone out there can shed some light, I’d love to update this review with a better result for the battery life.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Razer Pro Click V2 is a perfectly fine mouse. Will it be one that you pick up for both work and play? Probably not. There are better ‘Gaming’ options out there, which are not that much more expensive. However, the mouse holds up against its competitors in terms of features, all things aside from the battery life.
It does give you a typical Razer experience in terms of feel and build quality, so that goes some way to justify the price tag. However, with the lack of any other killer features, it does leave a lot to be desired and could be pricing itself out of being purchased. The real question is more going to be about how much you like Razer products.
The Razer Pro Click V2 gets the Thumb Culture Silver Award.
