If you are like me and work from home, you will probably be working on a laptop. Now, laptops are great; however, the one thing that they struggle with is multitasking. Only having one screen can be fine for the majority of situations and work environments. What do you do if you need something more? You have two options: you can either buy a more expensive monitor that will just sit in place on your desk. Or the alternative is one of the many portable monitors out there in the market. This is where the Mobile Pixels Fold comes into play. This neat portable monitor can expand your setup in minutes. Whether you are looking for something for a home desk or even if you travel for work. This monitor could be your next favourite upgrade.
Coming in two resolution options, the Mobile Pixels Fold comes in a 15.6″ 1080p or a 16″ QHD, retailing at £260 and £275 respectively. They won’t break the bank; however, yes, you can get other monitors for a lower price, but they won’t have the portability that this one shows off. Let’s see what they offer inside the slim shell.
Design Features
Being portable, you would like to think that the size is transportable. You would be entirely right, with an ultra-slim thickness of just 8.8mm and weighing less than a bag of sugar. You can fit this into any backpack or travel bag, bringing your newfound productivity anywhere you go. With its magnetic cover included, you get a great stand that allows you to choose between two different viewing angles. Whilst this isn’t a huge variety, I found that both options worked in different situations. It could have only been made better if the monitor was a touchscreen, but you can’t have everything.
Featuring an IPS screen, the colour is bright and vibrant, allowing whatever you are doing to be displayed in near perfection. Watching films was a lot of fun, allowing me to do work on one screen whilst enjoying the latest that Netflix has to offer. With the built-in speakers, delivery clear audio. Whilst they will never be as good as either standalone speakers or even headphones. They do offer a great solution if you just want to put something on and listen without being limited. If, however, you want to plug in, then you can make use of the 3.5mm audio jack on the Mobile Pixels Fold’s slim body.
Connectivity is key when using a portable monitor and the Fold has you covered. With either a USB-C or an HDMI cable, you simply plug and play. You also have an extra USB-C slot in case you wanted to connect any peripherals to it, increasing productivity even further. Having a second monitor for me while working is a godsend. Being able to even just keep my emails open on one screen while all my other functions are happening on the other means that I am always going to be aware of the latest inbox updates.
You can even make use of the Mobile Pixels Fold to pair with your console, especially if you are travelling for a long period of time. Making sure you get to the end of the Fortnite Battle Pass is no joke!
Final Thoughts
With so much to say about this portable monitor, it’s easy to see where it would benefit you. From the slim and lightweight build to the QHD resolution, the Mobile Pixels Fold comes up trumps. I’ve even incorporated it into my day-to-day work to aid my productivity.
That being said it might not be for everyone, and a more permanent monitor solution might be perfect for you. Don’t entirely count out this little beauty.
