HYTE X50 Air PC Case Review

A cardboard box for the HYTE X50 air pc case, featuring a minimalist design and labelled "Modern Performance Case."

You might have seen HYTE doing the rounds on social media. Showing off cases with fancy screens on the side, all made of glass. In fact you may have read some of our articles about them too. Well, recently the PR team got in touch and offered us their newest case to get hands on with; the HYTE X50 Air. When it arrived, one thing was for sure: this was a heavy case. And even heavier with the PC components inside.

Full disclosure, I didn’t actually transfer my PC components into this case yet. I fully intend to transplant my current setup into this case, but with a couple of upgrades on the horizon, I thought it best to wait.

HYTE Bringing Something New

So what do you usually look for in a case? Sheer size, or just the ease of access? The HYTE X50 Air has both in abundance, with plenty of real estate to get in and around the case. You can install components nicely and easily.

Design

From a design point of view, it’s gorgeous. With plenty of curves to look at and mesh sides, it really would look great in anyone’s setup. Available in black or white, which is what we received, you can definitely have fun with where you position this big boy.

Taking off its mesh to reveal the beauty

With micro-mesh all around, it gives the case great air flow by creating a low-pressure and low-resistance atmosphere. With it also being filter-free, you won’t be constantly cleaning your filters to ensure maximum air flow. Now HYTE has a patent-pending for its louvred blade ventilation system. It aims to reduce the exhaust impedance by both cutting through the hot air being pumped out and also reinforcing the chassis.

This case has so many fan points: 3 x on the front, 1 at the rear. Then, to add to that, you have 3 on the side as well as 3 on the bottom. All are giving plenty of airflow. There are honestly so many plus points that I can’t wait to actually upgrade my PC to be able to install stuff into this behemoth.

Branding is important

Specification

Now I could simply list out all the specifications, but what fun would that be? You could just do that yourself from the HYTE website. Instead, let’s look at what is important stuff, shall we? So firstly, whilst I’ve said it’s a big case, I don’t think the photos quite convey how big it is. So let’s look at the dimensions. Coming in at 485mm H x 510mm L x 255mm W, it is hefty. I recently moved my case from my desk to the floor, and I would keep the HYTE X50 Air on the floor as well. I need to be able to get some sunlight into the office.

Being an ATX Mid-Tower, the case is compatible with a wide range of motherboards; ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX builds are all welcome. As are graphics cards as long as they are no longer than 430mm or 160mm in height. Meaning my Zotac 3080 would be fine, thankfully. There are plenty of expansion slots as well, which you can make use of for a number of different hardware options. Whether you have a separate sound card or a capture card. They will all fit nicely.

Even the bottom vents look sleek!

With a small front panel of buttons giving you quick access to the power button as well as a couple of USB slots, and a 3.5mm combo jack. You can easily connect peripherals to the front without many issues.

Final Thoughts

This case is a thing of beauty. Made from steel, you get a solid build and a rigid chassis. With the easy access by the lift off sides, you can get to both sides of the main body. Plenty of cable management areas, and even coming with velcro straps, means the HYTE X50 Air is really a case to have fun with.

The HYTE X50 Air, based on its design alone, gets the Thumb Culture Gold Award. Narrowly missing out because the standard X50 comes with a tempered glass panel.
