ANTANK S3 MAX Switch 2 Dock Review

Switch 2 dock in front of a switch 2 console on a table

If you have ever looked at your Switch 2 console and thought the dock was a little overbearing. Then you should be checking out the Antank S3 Max Switch 2 Dock. This small dock will sit proudly on your desk or TV unit, waiting to be called into action.

Small But Mighty Dock!

Priced at £38 on the Antank website, although currently at the time of writing, it’s on sale at £23! So just what makes this a great alternative to the Nintendo offering? Let’s check out the features, and you can decide for yourself.

Design Features

With something so small, you might not think that there are a vast number of features. Well, you’d be wrong. The dock itself is only as wide as the screen portion of the Switch 2, so it sits quite unobtusely wherever you decide to have it. With some great grippy feed preventing accidental slippage. As well as a great angular design to prevent the Switch 2 from falling over and getting damaged.

Sitting and ready for action

As soon as this came through the post, I swapped it straight into action. Coming with no cables inside the box, you can simply make use of the existing cables that you already have in place with your Switch 2. It is literally a 60-second swap! Once you’ve connected the HDMI into the 2.1 port, you can get resolutions of up to 4K at 120Hz, so you don’t scrimp on that.

With 100W fast charging as well, you can be assured that your Switch 2 will be fully charged the next time you want to play in handheld mode. Now with all that charging power comes heat; thankfully, the Antank S3 Max Switch 2 Dock has an open back design. Giving the maximum amount of heat release, as well as ensuring you don’t compromise the sleek design.

The USB-C port of the dock is incredibly safe, and to save any kind of pressure on the port, there is a small piece of plastic for support. It really is a well-thought-out design.

Push The Button

The one standout feature for me on the Antank S3 Max Switch 2 Dock is the small button on the back. This button allows you to switch from handheld charging mode to TV mode instantaneously. Meaning that if you just want to charge your Switch and keep it in its own stand while you play, then so be it. Want to switch it over to TV mode for everyone to enjoy? Just give that little button a little press. It’s pretty neat if you ask me.

Handheld mode is a lot of fun

Over on the Antank website, you can download and update the Firmware for the dock as well. Ensuring that all the little circuitry inside is kept nice and up to date. Done relatively easily by connecting the dock to a PC or MAC via USB cable and then following the simple and straightforward instructions.

The only negative of the dock is that when you switch on the console, it doesn’t power on your TV. Now, this is only a minor niggle, but if a firmware update can bring that, I think this dock would be perfect.

Final Thoughts

So if you want something different from the normal dock for the Switch 2, then honestly, this is a great alternative. The Antank S3 Max Switch 2 dock offers great features, with seemingly no negatives, depending on how you stand about the turning on TV thing. All in all, it’s a great and inexpensive piece of kit, perhaps it’s perfect for a second dock so that you can quickly move your Switch 2 from location to location. Even if you are going on holiday, it’ll easily slip into your backpack or other item holder.

The Antank S3 Max Switch 2 Dock receives the Thumb Culture Platinum Award.
