If you were in the market for a new mouse for your PC setup, I’d like to bring you something new from Steelseries. The Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2! Retailing at around £100 and available in three colourways, Ghost, Shadow and the one we chose, Magenta Haze. This awesome, bright pink is a great mouse. Oh, and we have a little bit extra, the QcK Heavy mousepad! Also in the gorgeous Magenta colourway.
Bright and Bold
The retail price of this is a generous one, but is there enough on the features side to warrant dropping £100 on an upgrade? Let’s check out the finer details and see whats what.
Design Features
Firstly, the look, that bright magenta colour is gorgeous. Constructed in an ultra-light material, the Aerox 3 weighs a mere 68g, giving you a great mouse for those quick flicks of the wrist. With a honeycomb shell that incorporates an AquaBarrier, helping to keep out dust, sweat and even spills, far better than other mice with a honeycomb shell out there. There’s even a video on the Steelseries website showing them using the mouse underwater. Pretty impressive stuff.
We’ve got plenty of other features all round. With a battery that can seemingly go on and on, with up to 200 hours on Bluetooth and up to 120 hours on the 2.4GHz wireless connection. Ultra fast polling rate of 4K makes sure that you are responsive when it’s important. Alongside a 26K optical sensor, ensuring that every movement you make is replicated perfectly on screen. All these numbers add up to a mouse that doesn’t just look impressive, it performs to back up its looks.
The click part of the mouse has some nice mechanical switches that are rated for 80 million clicks. Ensuring that each press is as consistent as the previous. with a latency of less than 2ms meaning those presses aren’t just consistent, they are incredibly responsive. With 6 programmable buttons, you can get this mouse setup perfectly for whatever game you are playing.
Welcome to the Mouse Pad
We were also fortunate enough to be sent the new QcK Heavy mousepad in magenta. Made with awesome materials that give you a thicker and sturdier surface. It ensures optimal tracking in conjunction with the Aerox 3‘s optical sensor. Being of thicker material, you get great wrist support for those gaming sessions. Unfortunately, it’s not available in the UK markets quite yet, but it’ll be worth the wait!
Back to the mouse, you get croll jump protection in there as well. This ignores the first scroll bump, which aims to prevent accidental scrolling while you are gaming. All these settings and more are customisable in the Steelseries software. There is even a 3D aim Trainer in the software. Designed to get you snapping quicker and quicker. Getting those headshots never felt better!
Final Thoughts
So the Steelseries Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 mouse is a great addition to the Steelseries lineup. Retailing at a reasonable price means that this is worthwhile being included in any upgrade options you might have on the table. A great performing mouse with crisp clicks, you’ll absolutely enjoy every moment with this mouse in your hands. Whatever the colour you use.
So with that in mind, the Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 gets the Thumb Culture Platinum Award.
