Well, thanks to a worldwide pandemic this is exactly what has happened, in a way. Ubisoft Delays Release Dates for Rainbow Six Extraction and Riders Republic

Ubisoft recently announced a change in release dates for both Rainbow Six Extraction and Riders Republic. Originally slated to be released on September 16, 2021, Rainbow Six Extraction has been pushed back to January 2022. Riders Republic will now see an October 28, 2021 release date instead of its September date. According to Ubisoft, these delays will allow players more time to test and give feedback on these games. This will also give the developers more time to polish the games prior to release.
