Devil May Cry V Special Edition Review – Devil May Kick Ass

Devil May Cry has had an interesting history. First debuting on the PlayStation 2 the game was originally intended to be Resident Evil 4. During development it evolved its own style and thusly became its own franchise. Featuring a unique hack and slash style it was an instant hit. Sometime after Devil May Cry 4 the franchise was rebooted under the banner DmC: Devil may Cry. Strangely, despite the critical and relatively commercial success it never took off beyond that. Of course in 2019 Devil May Cry 5 launched, ignoring the reboot and continuing the story that debuted in 2001. Here we are a year later with Devil May Cry V Special Edition. Finding Nero And Dante's Peak? The Ultimate Crossover... I've not been particularly close to the Devil May Cry franchise. I have played each one, ...

Spirit Of The North Enhanced Edition Review – Who Let The Fox Out?

Spirit of the North Enhanced Edition on PS5 was developed by indie team Infuse Studio and published by Merge Games in November 2020. It was previously released on PS4 in February 2019 and later on Switch and Steam in May 2020. This Enhanced Edition boasts 4k 60fps gameplay and updated textures, lighting and objects. There are also 3 new skins, 2 of those are exclusive to PS5. Spirit of the North was created by Taylor Christensen and Jacob Sutton who both specialise in art rather than programming. They’ve done a tremendous job at using this as a strength, rather than a weakness; leaning into visual design being a core element of the game. Spirit of the North Enhanced Edition PS5 Review - Who Let The Fox Out? This is a game almost devoid of hand-holding and relies on the player to pay a...

Handball 21 Review – A Lesser Known Ball Game

Handball, probably not a game a lot of you are familiar with. If not, I recommend loading up Youtube and searching for some real-life gameplay! Handball 21 brings the Handball sport to life at home and in-game. Developed by EKO Software and published by Bigben Interactive, this new sports title is available across console and PC. Let's jump in and find out more about this lesser-known ball game in this Handball 21 review. Handball 21, Another Sports Game I Will Probably Be Terrible At! I am going to be honest; I had no idea what Handball was. Before playing the game I had to do some research in the form of watching some matches. I was certainly interested in how the gameplay would be captured and if it would be true to the sport. Obviously, all this had to be based on what I have seen. L...

Sporting an unconventional shape it soon came to light that the machine was much smaller than you realise. The Next Generation Is Now The Current Generation... Dreamcast: Year One Book Review – One Dream Too Many For Sega?

The Dreamcast, Sega's final console entry into the gaming market.  It was the first of the sixth generation and entered in 1998, while the fires of the two-year-old Nintendo N64 and Sony's four-year-old PlayStation were still roaring hot.  We wouldn't see another console release until the PlayStation 2 in 2000. Discontinued three years later, a year after the PlayStation 2.  In its relatively short lifespan, the Dreamcast gained a dedicated following and sold over 9 million units.  So what happened?  Did Sega release it too early to make up for the shortcomings of the Sega Saturn?  Was the technology dated when compared to its competition?  Or was it simply just one dream too many for Sega?  Let's take a look at the first year of the Dreamcast with Dreamcast: Year One The Unofficial St...
The Return of Perfect Dark

The Return of Perfect Dark

At The Game Awards last night we got a glimpse of a 'Rare' treat, a new Perfect Dark game.  Perfect Dark was a game released on N64 in 2000 and developed by Rare.  Yes, the same Rare that did Goldeneye 007.  Perfect Dark took the Goldeneye 007 formula and refined it to become its spiritual successor.  Even though it didn't reach the popularity of Goldeneye 007, it became a classic in its own right.  Perfect Dark was a revolution back in the day because it had a female lead character, which was a rare thing indeed. "Good Day, Miss Dark" The second and final new game (until now) for the series was Perfect Dark Zero which was released exclusively on the Xbox 360 in 2005. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S--lFTxAVs8 It is unclear whether this is a remake or a soft reboot, one can only a...
