Battlefield V PC Review – The Glory of Battle

EA & Dice are back with their latest instalment of Battlefield and this time they are going back to World War 2 with Battlefield V.  Currently available on PC, PS4 and Xbox, I was lucky enough to play the game 11 days before release as one of the advantages of having Origin Access premier. It was originally going to be released at the beginning of October but was delayed for a month to tweak the game after feedback received from earlier public beta tests. This has paid off as you can see changes that have been made for the better. One of the biggest controversies before the games release was fans being furious at EA for introducing female soldiers into the game and them being a prominent feature in the official gameplay trailer.  However, EA like to be as historically accurate as...

Big Crown: Showdown Review – Furious Family Fun

So, leading up to the holiday season I was given Big Crown: Showdown to review. This is the new release from Hyper Luminal Games Ltd. How does it hold up under the scrutiny of my Festive Spirits (Yes, I meant Plural… as I always mix my spirits), let’s find out... Gameplay Big Crown: Showdown is a purely multiplayer party-brawler, designed for up to 4 players (either online or Couch Co-Op). Each person takes on the persona of a Knight (or a member of the Grumblegard as they are known in this world). The challenge… To collect as many coins as possible while punching your opponents away or off the edge of the levels. It really is as simple as that, and the controls are equally simple, three buttons (Punch, Block & Jump) and the Analogue stick to move around. After a conversa...

5 Things To Make Blackout Better

So with Call of Duty Black Ops 4 being out for a little while, and many many hours of frustrating Blackout having been played, it left me thinking on ways that the game could be improved. So here it is, my 5 Things To Make Blackout Better 1, Hardcore Mode So lets start off with something that I feel would be great. Adding a hardcore mode to the Blackout mode would make things a little more interesting. Imagine wandering around the open areas near turbine and suddenly getting sniped from a distance. Yes I know with a well place sniper shot you can get downed straight away anyways, but with the addition of hardcore mode it would bring more emphasis on finding those shadows and using movement between cover. 2, Body Based Damage Other games have used this to great effect, having body ba...

Thumb Culture Team Christmas Wish List

Here at TC HQ we love Christmas! This year we have rounded the staff up, stuffed them with mulled wine, plyed them with mince pies before asking them to write down what they would like to find under the Christmas tree on Christmas day.  Everyone has come up with a game title, a piece of merchandise and a random third choice of whatever they would like to see them through the festive season!  If you're stuck for ideas yourself, take a look at what we are after, you may be pleasantly surprised! Stu Game - Battlefield V, around £45 from numerous sites. Contrary to a lot of opinion and even though this game is primarily the same at Battlefield 1, there is something about it that feels new. Yes its essentially a re-skin with upgraded textures, but the gameplay feel fresh. Those bullets ...

Paper Dolls PSVR Review – Heaven or Hell

Winking Entertainment  and Perp Games have stepped up to give us another PSVR game. Paper Dolls is a new entry to the PSVR Horror Genre. This should be interesting as I love horror in general and love my PSVR. Gameplay Paper Dolls has a choice from two control schemes, either using your Dual Shock controller or PS Move controllers. My first outing on Paper Dolls was using the Dual Shock controller and it wasn't a great start for me. Movement using the controller was awkward. Neither stick works for walking around. To move around on Paper Dolls you must use L2 and R2 alternating between them. There is only walk as an option also, don't try pumping the buttons faster as you wont move any quicker either. To turn in Paper Dolls is just as bad, double tap L2 or R2 to turn in the relative ...
