Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Review – You Did It Again Naughty Dog

The Uncharted series has been one of Naughty Dog’s finest creations, commercially and critically, without a shadow of a doubt; although I have to give a huge shout out to The Last of Us being on par as well. So after four main games with the brilliant Nathan Drake, one of Playstation’s finest developing partners has decided to expand the series with a new, shorter than normal entry in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Only this time, here come the girls. So is it any good? You bet your arse it is. Gameplay Nathan who? With “what’s his name” out of the picture, focus shifts to long-time supporting character Chloe Frazer, voiced by Claudia Black with her trademark wicked purr, who we join in the middle of the hunt for the Tusk of Ganesh in a war-torn region of India. In a nice touch for us fans ...

The Hunter Call of the Wild – Winner Winner Venison Dinner

This is my experience with theHunter Call of the Wild. A title that finds you wandering through an open plain surrounded by towering, autumnal trees, and you’re waiting patiently for your sights to hold steady over the left lung of a lone deer, waiting for the wind to reduce, finger on the trigger, then BAM. The bullet leaves your glossy rifle, travels through the air and the wind carries it from the lung to the neck. You still get a hit, the deer jolts in agony, and runs away into the forest. Time to get tracking and claim your trophy. theHunter Call of the Wild is a huge open-world game created by developer, Expansive Worlds and publisher, Avalanche Studios. It was launched in February 2017, with the previous title The Hunter that was released in 2009 by developer, Emote Games and als...

PES 2018 Review – Championship Candidate or Relegation Reject

As someone who has been a keen PES player since its first release back in 2001 (when it emerged like the Phoenix from the ashes of International Superstar Soccer). This is a review I’ve been looking forward to doing. The release of these games reminds of the start of a real football season when you have the hopes and dreams of your team pulling something out to amaze you. Have Konami done that to us this year? Well let’s find out… I’m sure that by this stage PES doesn’t need any kind of real introduction or explanation of what the game is. So I won’t bore you with a breakdown of what the game is about, after all everybody knows what football is (or at least I hope so.) Gameplay So this year PES has given us much of the same as last year in terms of what is included in this title. Ther...

Shoppe Keep Review – Retail Gold

The IndieDB Game of the Year Nominee Shoppe Keep has finally come to PS4. For those of you not already familiar with the title on other platforms. Shoppe Keep is a Retail Strategy game developed by Strangefire Studios and published by Excalibur Games. Where you take on the challenges of running a Fantasy Retail Business. This is actually my first foray into this world as although I was familiar with Shoppe Keep, it wasn't a title I had ever actually picked up and played. So my opinion here is purely based on the PS4 version as I cannot compare it to the other releases. However, I did hear some very good things from a few friends that had the PC version. So let's see how much Gold its actually worth. Gameplay Ok. So before we get into the details of Shoppe Keep. I feel I need to tell y...

Mantis Burn Racing – Review – New BattleCars DLC!

I've played a fair few racing games in my lifetime and thankfully have seen the evolution from the days of Super Sprint and Outrun to the latest offerings like F1 2018 and Project Cars.  Car games are fun be they realistic or arcade-style.  For me, there's nothing better than being rewarded by a win for your efforts to race a car around a course.  Indie Developer Voofoo games' Mantis Burn Racing has graced the Xbox One, PS4 and Steam store since the middle of 2016 and was announced at the recent EGX in Birmingham, UK that a Nintendo Switch version is in the pipeline. In a moment I will talk about the new BattleCars DLC, however its worth quickly mentioning a little about Mantis Burn Racing incase you've never played it before! Gameplay So as I previously mentioned the game is a to...

NASCAR Heat 2 Review – Rubbing’s Racing Harry

NASCAR Heat 2 is quite clearly a sequel to NASCAR Heat, but having not played the first iteration I was able to go in to this game with a clear mind. Although how much of a good thing that will be is left to be seen. Developed by Monster Games and published by 704Games, NASCAR Heat 2 takes on the massively popular racing franchise over in the USA. So does it cut the mustard with an F1 fan like myself? Gameplay The gameplay of NASCAR Heat 2 is summarised in the following words, Round And Round. Essentially it's an oval racer which challenges you to draft your opponents in order to overtake and make your way through the field. Sounds simple right? Well, you would be a fool to believe so. It's tactical and brutal, go down to low on the corners and you can quickly find yourself facing onc...

EGX 2017 Daily Summary – Day 2

If you haven't read the EGX day 1 summary then head over to here and have a quick read...go on it's ok, I can wait.... Welcome back! Now it's time for the summary of Day 2, as the previous article it will be a short summary of the days events, purely so that you get a flavour for what EGX is all about. So let's get stuck in with the first game... Raging Justice When I received the press release for Raging Justice is instantly reminded me of classic side-scrolling beat em ups such as Street Of Rage and Double Dragon, but with a really nice claymation style to the game. You can imagine my excitement when I took control of the game and it was EXACTLY what I expected. MakinGames is made up purely of Anna and Nic and after speaking to them both you can see exactly why they wanted to ...

EGX 2017 Daily Summary – Day 1

So it's that time of year again and rather than bombarding you with tens of other articles, like you would find elsewhere, we at Thumb Culture thought it might be best just to give you a bit more of a personal account of the day. So that if you have never been to an EGX show before, you will get a taste of what you might expect. The day started with a bit of a wild goose chase trying to determine where you pick up press passes from, if only we knew that its the same place as EVERYBODY ELSE! Rather than being sent all the way to the other end of the Birmingham NEC. Once we picked up our press passes, we were straight in and faced with the familiar low light setting, noise heavy playground for gamers' to try out the newest and latest games. Having made a few appointments it was time fo...

Sneaky Bears PSVR Review – Bears Everywhere

Sneaky Bears is here on the PSVR and is published by War Ducks LTD. This is an on the rails PSVR shooter using move controllers. You are trying to stop the evil Frankie from destroying humanity after he was discarded by the family who owned him. So, let the shooting begin. Gameplay Sneaky Bears has three modes, there is Survival Mode, Fire Mode and Bomb Mode. The game controls made me feel like I’d been thrown into an action movie. Even though I was wielding dual toy pistols I felt like a bad ass. First of all, there's Survival Mode, you fight waves of angry bears with a sole purpose of taking you out. First off you’ll notice your guns are holstered like a cowboy, on the left is a shotgun and on the right is a pistol. Reach down and draw!! Blam Blam I am an unstoppable gunslinge...

All you have to do it look at what you want to eat and you'll eat it. Look at a lily pad and you'll jump to it.
