The rumours were true! Telltale are working on a Guardians of the Galaxy game!
Telltale confirmed back in 2014 that they were partnering with Marvel but the exact franchise remained unannounced until the recent Voice Actors strike gave us a healthy dose of confirmation in early November – Now its official as the first teaser trailer was revealed for Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy at the Game Awards 2016.
Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be a 5 part series coming “soon” to Consoles, PC and the usual hand-held gadgetry (probably not the Vita).
It’s a savvy move by both Marvel and Telltale. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 is set to launch in cinemas on May 2017, reuniting Chris Pratt, Zoe Soldana, Dave Bautista and Vin Diesel as they attempt to save the universe in their own unique way once again. The sequel is expected to be one of the biggest grossing films of 2017 after the surprise success of the original and the name alone will sell plenty of copies for both parties.
Telltale get a great franchise to play around with and unlike Telltale’s Batman (which is great by the way) is in a franchise that has a lot of great stories that many fans of the blockbuster film will never have heard of.
Marvel get a nice pay-day, they get to expand the appeal of Guardians of the Galaxy, branching the franchise out into other mediums and hopefully, put a few more bums on cinema seats come May. A win/win.
Stick with Thumb Culture and we’ll update the story with anything new on Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
