Private Division’s Newly Partnered, Obsidian Entertainment Promises No Microtransactions in Upcoming Title

Obsidian Entertainment announce that they’re not going to introduce microtransactions into their upcoming RPG.

Before I go on to waffle about Obsidian Entertainment, some backstory. Take-Two recently revealed that they’re launching a new publishing label named, Private Division. The label will be alongside Rockstar, and 2K, but will have a focus on smaller developers rather than the large AAA scene. They will help the developers fund their works, but will allow the studios they partner with keep the intellectual property.

One of the names to join the barracks of Private Division is, Obsidian Entertainment, developers behind, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and Neverwinter Nights 2.

In a forum post on the studios official forum they announce that they’re working on an upcoming RPG and it shall be free from microtransactions.

“We’re extremely excited about our upcoming RPG, and we know you are too. We wish we could tell you all about it right now… but we’re going to hold off until the time is right. What we did want to talk about was a question a lot of you have been raising: “Will this upcoming game feature any lootboxes or other microtransactions?”
The answer is simply: “no.” No microtransactions, of any kind, in our game.” – Obsidian Entertainment

They also go on to basically confirm that the publishing label have been supportive of their project, and are allowing them creative freedom.
